Psychometric tests

"Psychometric" tests can also be referred to as "psychological" tests. They are "formal and systematic ways of measuring the psychological characteristics of people" (Dewberry, 2009). The basis for the use of psychometric tests during selection (hiring) is the assumption that scores can be used to predict job performance. Cognitive ability tests (CATS) and personality measures are the two broad categories of psychometric tests most often used for selection.
