Within-persons relationships All definitions

"Within-persons" relationships "are the relationships that occur within the person," (Briner, 2008, p. 291). That is, they occur at the individual level of analysis, describing what happens to the same individual over time. Only longitudinal studies, which collect measures at multiple points over time, can provide evidence about what happens to and within an individual.
In contrast, between-persons relationships refer to what happens to groups of people. These relationships are studied at the group, organizational or societal level of analysis.
